Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Discuss the appropriate management of patients in the perioperative setting, often using a case-based approach.
  2. Identify strategies for appropriately discussing obesity and risks of elective surgeries with patients.
  3. Identify and manage common postoperative complications.
  4. Determine when cardiac testing is appropriate prior to non-cardiac surgeries.
  5. Utilize Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) to help manage patients in the perioperative setting.
  6. Implement an evidence-based approach to caring for perioperative patients in alignment with current ASA guidelines.
